9/9/2001 The September 29 Recreational Abalone Advisory Committee (RAAC) has been postponed. The intent is to hold it immediately after the Department's first workshop on the Abalone Recovery and Management Plan (ARMP). They are trying for a date in October "to review Conceptual Framework, concepts of recovery, northern management options, fishery profile and biological characteristics. They have invited RAAC members to sit on this panel. I don't know if these workshops (3 are planned) will be open to the public but I doubt it. I'm sure there will be a public comment mechanism similar to what we have for the MLMA and the MLPA after the draft ARMP is developed. The RAAC has a web page: http://www.abcamp.com/raac/RAAC.html For information about the plans to lower the recreational take of abalone by 49% starting next season go to: http://www.dfg.ca.gov/mrd/ab_status/ncs_ab_resource.html
